What I Wore & Shop My Closet

Here is my latest "get dressed and actually feel cute" pictures. This past week I was house-sitting and getting to see some friends before my fella leaves town THIS WEEKEND. Eek. So we went out and enjoyed our time with good people and I actually felt getting ready and looking nice was appropriate for the occasion.

Now I've recently realized... I am moving. In two weeks. What?! To a state where I do not need most of the wardrobe I currently own. Also, I cannot fit most of it in my car {which is how much space I am allowed for stuff to bring with me}. So I decided that to fix this... I would have a ...

Babies and Blogs

So you may have noticed that today my blog has a swanky, swoon-worthy new style. I am SUPER in love with my own blog. But that's totally as it should be right?

Well it came from one of the most talented and beautiful people I know. (Of course I don't actually know her in person because we have only met in this virtual world but who's counting).

It's danielle burkleo ....

From the amazing blog ....take heart

Oh and she's also the momma of two sweet little boys....

With another on the way....

Whew! But if all that weren't enough to be busy but still beautiful....
They are also ADOPTING!

And they need help.
They need to raise some monies to bring their new baby home. So if you are interested here's how you can help. (And I really think you should)

You can contact danielle by email if you'd like her to design you something purdy for your blog or even Etsy. (She did them both for me! And I am seriously in love) Also it should be mentioned....this all happened in like 2 days. She is speedy. LOVE it. AND I didn't need her to make any changes.

OK so what's my other choice (if perhaps you already love your blog)....

How about a gorgeous wreath for your wall to wear from her amazing shop sugarmoney?
I really really really love mine. She can also do some amazing headbands.

Just sayin. She's a-mazing. I am so blessed to have her in my life. And she has been such an inspiration to me. Seriously holla at her if you need something or just want to help her precious family. Or just follow her blog and leave her some sweet words. That's such a blessing also.

Thank you Danielle. Chai sistas for life. I love you. Reals.

we're moving!

And we're so scared and excited for this journey together.

My fella is a brewer and just got asked to brew at a new start-up production brewery, Golden Road Brewing  in Los Angeles, California. We are beyond thrilled that he's going to be working again and doing what he loves. Plus, this opportunity is AMAZING.

But as you know, decisions like this do not happen easily and unfortunately this one happened so fast, that we didn't have much time to figure out how we felt about everything. We knew he needed to take advantage of the opportunity but not what it would mean for us.

Without taking you through our entire emotional journey.... I'll just say that we knew we weren't done together. And because I had the flexibility to also move....I would.

SO here we are. So anxious and eager to move forward into this new exciting venture. It's a big step for us but since we both came from divorced families; we find it important to take the big steps with care and appreciation.

Thank you so much for your support! And I'll do my best to blog the journey as we travel it. I can't wait to tell you about the sunshine!

what. i'm. wearing.

First of all I want to thank you all for your sweet comments from this post. It was very hard for me to open my heart that way but at the same time, I think it was the most beautiful post I've ever written on this blog. There is more to share about that but I will do so when the time is right. Very soon.

For now I want to show you a bit of what I captured from days last week where I actually had normal clothes on. It's been a rough one the past seven days but my body and mind are over the hump and I am happy for what the future holds. There are many exciting things on the horizon and wow are you going to love them!

Here's what I managed to wear:

TOP: Vintage || TOES: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri {Sonic Boom} || Necklace: TinkerBBoutique

Just Me: Glasses, Braided hair || Love: What My Wall Wore by danielle burkleo || Vintage: We Heart Shops  || Bestie: ADORABLE.

about a boy

this is a post I needed to write.
this is the most difficult for me to write.
it comes from the deepest part of my heart.
i just thought you should know.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Nearly seven years ago I met a man.
He was gorgeous.
In the most handsome way.
Stunning blue eyes.
Strong comforting arms.
And a smile that literally made my legs melt.
I was smitten.
seriously.

  We quickly became friends.
Shared conversations.
Experienced some really fun times.
Like eating poutine at the bottom of Whistler mountain.
And had some hard down times too.
Like finding out one of our best friends had brain cancer.

We were really great friends for four years.
But never more.
And then one day....
A few months after having my heart broken...
He was there.

And I was scared.
He wanted to be with me.
Wanted to hold me, kiss me, experience life together.
But I knew hurt.
And didn't think I could do it again.
So he was patient.

And after time,
And MANY talks about what I NEEDED...
October 9, 2008
He filled my heart.

What has happened since then has been ....
a rollercoaster
joyful
surprising
comforting
happy
hard
adventurous
intriguing
compassionate
.... a million pieces forever written on my heart.

He makes me happy.

He makes me feel like I can be just me.
...the girl who cries ALOT
...is the most indecisive
...picky appetite
...sugar fiend
...with career and life ADD
...body always broken
...complaining
...cursing
...unrealistically jealous
...CLUMSY
...huge dork
....hopeless romantic
....with so very flaws

And I can tell him everything.
He catches me when I fall.
And is my VERY best friend.

He's forgiven me some huge mistakes.
That I'm not sure I could even forgive myself for.
And he has shown me grace.

He makes me stronger.
And challenges me to do my very best.

And when he cries,
I fall so much deeper in love.

I am in love.

And after 3 years together....
we have hit a cross roads.
It has been all over my heart in the past week.
And some days I just feel numb.
Because I can't cry or think or talk anymore.

I believe in our love.

I want to move forward.
Continue to be challenged
and happy
But only time will tell.

I'm willing....
and a fighter.

and after this almost 7 year journey...
what can't we conquer?

i hope.

SALE

Have you heard?

These beauties are 50% off.

Opal Creek

I decided to take my fella on the ultimate date. A hike in a beautiful part of Oregon. But to be totally honest....this girl is not at all the best hiker. In fact I just tend to stink at most outdoor adventures. But I still like trying. I just didn't grow up learning to be very outdoor-sy and so I have to learn late in life.
But I have the very best teacher. Here are some shots from our journey to beautiful Opal Creek. They tell the better story.

Beautiful Falls.

Old Mining Entrance

One sexy fella.
Cute hikers

Cascading Waterfalls

Our gorgeous destination

Creative artwork of hikers before us. What do YOU see?

The crystal clear water. Freezing cold.

Crazy ITCHY legs. Everytime I exercise outside. Anyone know why?

Just saying.

These guys were just hanging out in the woods. So cool old mining towns.

Rocking our aviators.

We really had a great time. It felt so good to be able to get a good workout and enjoy the beautiful state that fella grew up in. If you are ever in the area I totally recommend checking this hike out. Gorgeous and super easy to follow.

Go get your hike on!

Latte Krispy Treats

Ya'll....I came up with something on the fly the other day that I JUST HAVE TO share with you. So I love Rice Krispy Treats and they're something my momma always made for us. I am pretty darn great at making them (if I do say so myself) and this time was no joke.

What did I do? I just made the grown up version of the yummiest, easiest treat to make on the planet. And now I'm going to share it with you. Because I'm cool like that. And I think you're cool like that too. AND because I just KNOW you'll get addicted to these just like I did.

the steps.

and then.

The-not-too-much-of-a-recipe:

{ONE} Melt the butter and add couple spoonfuls of ground coffee beans
{TWO} When butter is fully melted add marshmellows (full bag) and a splash of your favorite creamer. Melt till liquid, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
{THREE} Quickly add your desired amount of rice krispies and stir. I use about 3/4 of the box.
{FOUR} Spoon out into either greased pan or wax paper.
{FIVE} Let cool and harden a bit and then ENJOY!
